Girl From Ipanema – JIM&DEB on Electric Guitar and Bass

Here’s a song for my friend, John, in Alaska. He asked Debbie and I to put Girl from Ipanema on YouTube to help him learn the chords. Here you go, John; this is one of my favorite songs; I’ll send you the chord progression by email. Stay warm.

Sometime in history I lived on a couple sides of Boise…. Caldwell and Winnemucca. World famous destination spots. !

I’ll be listening to some of your other videos this evening.

  • MrJimdeb · July 17, 2012 at 12:24 pm

Hey Jeff, were almost neighbors – I’m in Boise. Well, I have to thank you again for all of your nice comments. It’s nice to know our music doesn’t go unnoticed. Talk to you later. Jim

  • bohemian46 · July 17, 2012 at 12:43 pm

I am in Oregon, also known as the State of Jefferson (cessessionists : ) )

I must commend and thank you and Deb for such a fine selection of tunes, thoughtfully played, obviously from the heart as well as the hands.
What you present is what I remember folks did before the “new age” invasion of constant external stimulation. Music was a personal expression, communication and a home grown form of entertainment ; seems gone except in rare cases such a yours.

  • MrJimdeb · July 17, 2012 at 12:44 pm

I given a few of my guitars to my grandkids too. They’re in Tennessee and Missouri. I hope the “bug” gets you good – I’d like to see your Byrdland, Tele, and Guild in action. Appreciate you nice comments and your appreciation of our tune selection. Jim

  • MrJimdeb · July 17, 2012 at 1:18 pm

Yup, I’ve still got the “Chet” Epi and love it. I used it recently to upload “Goodtime Charley’s Got the Blues”, and capo’d up about 3 or 4 frets – I really like the way it sounds of that one. In what state do you live? Jim

  • bohemian46 · July 17, 2012 at 2:08 pm

I have owned well over 100 guitars, but unlike you, I did not own them all at the same time : ) nnnSome very fine guitars there.

DId you keep the Chet Atkins Epiphone ?

  • bohemian46 · July 17, 2012 at 3:02 pm

That’s funny.. so did I. I sold several guitars and gave some away..including one to my grandson.
I am down to My Elitist Byrdland, a Telecaster and a 1959 Guild M-20.

I must admit the “bug” has hit me again. Your fault : )

My compliment s to you and Deb for some very fine playing and one of the finest selections of tunes on youtube played in amost enjoyable and comfortable fashion.

I could easily make an evening just kicking back and listening to you.

  • MrJimdeb · July 17, 2012 at 4:02 pm

Thanks a lot. I recently sold my 535 – I’ve actually sold a bunch of my collection over the past few years. I love’em all, but just realized it was time to “thin out” the collection. If you look at our video (Goodnight Sweetheart) you will see a portion of my collection. Jim
