Based on your ability to call out notes on just about anywhere on the neck……just how important IS knowing what notes go where, as opposed to knowing the SOUND of what goes where?????

The riff sounds a bit like the riff from Smoke on the Water.

it’s great and it’s weird…I was thinking a lesson about this technique would be great so i roamed around youtube for a long time yesterday and I came to Marty’s page and guess what I found…octave lesson…great timing/weird coincidence? your call…anyways, great lesson as always!!! more more (a John Mayer licks lesson would be great!)((please?))

Lord. I can’t wait until my fingers are as fast as Marty’s. I mean damn, I’m not slow by any means but IF this was Crossroads I’d be dead.
