More simple songs for beginners learning guitar

The video is for my guitar lesson at aaronmatthies.wordpress.com It is not meant to be a detailed explanation (because my site goes into the details), it is more a demonstration so students can see and hear what they are to play. Have a play of the songs in my other video titled ‘simple songs for beginners learning guitar’ before trying these ones. These songs are aimed at complete beginners. The songs in this lesson are: Ode to joy La cucaracha Happy birthday There will be more lessons along with video lessons soon. aaronmatthies.wordpress.com

@felix402, well, until you are strumming power chords, you just strum the one string that you are holding down.

I actually sort of find these songs almost esential in the beginning process. I started with boring crap like this and now I am onto the more recent stuff.

Have a look at the other lesson on simple songs. That one has more explanations and the songs are a bit easier. If you still have trouble you can send me a message explaining what you don’t understand and I’ll try to help

If you want to post a video response with you playing your guitar I’d be happy to see what needs to be done to improve. Or maybe you could take your guitar into a guitar shop to see if it is set up properly.

I agree, nobody picks up a guitar to play these songs. But everybody has to start somewhere. These songs are a very basic starting point for first time beginners. After they learn these, they can make their way on to learning harder songs, like ones you hear on the radio. Even the simplest songs on the radio are harder than these so it’s a very good starting point for first time beginners.

No one picks up a guitar to play those beginner songs. Teach some current stuff that ya hear on the radio. Just pick something simple

Thats a good question. To find out what chords to strum, google the tabs and it will probably show what chords to play. As for which strings to strum, it really depends on the chord as they are all different. Eg; Dm you strum 4 strings and Em you strum 6. So see if you can find a chord dictionary (either on the net or from a music shop), they will show most common chords and what strings to strum. Does that help?
